In
compliance with the recent changes to the kindergarten teaching program
prepared by the Ministry of Education, in the school year 2010/2011 the Polish
language educators in ‘Mali Odkrywcy/Little Discoverers Kindergarten' bases
their work on the guidelines of the ‘Nasze Przedszkole/Our Kindergarten'
teaching program by Małgorzata Kwaśniewska and Wiesława Żaba-Żabińska. This
program closely follows the guidelines to be implemented in kindergarten
teaching that were set by the Ministry of Education.
Additionally,
basing our decision on the extensive observation of our kindergarten children
and in an attempt to satisfy their cognitive development needs, we are
implementing our own Kindergarten Education Program ‘Świat Małego
Odkrywcy/Little Discoverer's World'. The program has been written by our experienced
and well-educated staff members because not only do we care to provide our
kindergarteners with joyful and fun stimulation, but also want to provide the
parents who leave their children in our care with the sense of security and
certainty that their children will receive proper and extensive intellectual
and emotional stimulation.
In the
Polish language education for 3- and 4-year-olds we use the ‘Przedszkole
trzylatka/Kindergarten for 3-year-olds' and ‘Przedszkole
czterolatka/Kindergarten for 4-year-olds' teaching resources. In the Polish
education of older groups, 5- and 6-year-olds, we use the ‘Szkoła
pięciolatka/School for 5-year-olds' and ‘Szkoła sześciolatka/School for
6-year-olds' teaching resources, which provide the most appropriate, well-suited
and interesting stimulation for our kindergarteners.
Additionally,
we use the elements of ‘glottodidactics', which is a method of teaching to read
and write designed by Bronisław Rocławski, Ph. D. We start using the elements
of this method already with 2,5-year-olds by introducing simple breathing and
articulation exercises. We also implement the elements of ‘Metody Dobrego
Startu/Methods of a Good Start' by Marta Bogdanowicz, Małgorzata Barańska and
Ewa Jakucka.
We begin
education in mathematics as early as with 3-year-olds with the use of methods
and techniques described in ‘Dziecięca amtematyka/Child's mathematics' by Edyta
Gruszczyk-Kolczyńska, Ph. D. and Ewa Zielińska. Bearing in mind the importance
of an overall development, we never forget about such activities as physical
movement and artistic expression of our children.
We are a
sports kindergarten, and in our weekly plan there are a number of various
sports classes taught by professional sports trainers. Additionally, on daily
basis, all the group teachers introduce sports elements into their teaching
such as morning gymnastics and movement exercises that are meant to facilitate
group integration and help children establish contact with their friends.
We also
provide our children with weekly art classes to stimulate their creative
development. To ensure proper topics integration, the art classes take up the
same topics that are discussed weekly with children in the process of their
kindergarten education.
